Hexham Community Centre Plans Coronation Celebrations for Everyone
The Coronation of King Charles III provides an opportunity for the community to come together in celebration. At Hexham Community Centre we've put together a number of events marking the occasion.
Thanks to funding from Northumberland County Council's Coronation Fund Hexham Community Centre has been able to put together a number of free events to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III, including a kids' art competition, upcycling craft drop ins and a very special Coronation Party, encouraging people to come together to watch and celebrate the Coronation.
Jill Goodfellow, Hexham Community Centre Manager, said
“Big national events such as the Coronation can be a difficult time for people living in isolation who may not want to partake in the celebrations alone. A key aim of our Coronation Party is to invite those who would otherwise be alone to join us and create special memories, reminiscent of the communal viewings for Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation.”
Full details of the Centre's Coronation programme can be found below.
Kids' Art Competition

Coronation Craft Drop Ins
Get ready for the coronation creating upcycled flags, bunting and crowns. Hexham Community Centre will be hosting 2 drop ins to create these upcycled crafts and more.
Sessions will take place during Open Arms on Tuesday 2 May and LEGO Club on Thursday 4 May
Both sessions are free and booking is not required.
Coronation Party
Join staff, volunteers and Centre Users at Hexham Community Centre to watch and celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III in the company of others. The BBC footage of the big day will be shown on a big screen from 10.30am (ceremony starts at 11am). We anticipate the service will end at around 2pm and then the procession back to the Palace for the presentation on the balcony will finish at around 3pm.
We will also be serving a buffet lunch (12pm - 2pm) and encouraging guests to mingle and meet new people, chat with friends and create memories together of a special day.
Thanks to funding from Northumberland County Council the event is free, however numbers are limited so please make sure to book your place by calling the Centre of 01434 602707, or email info@hexhamcommunitycentre.org
